The Basics of Psychokinesis Class: Class Introduction/What is Psychokinesis? (Hosted By: Metalforever)

This class session presented what is/was to be expected for the class as a whole. We also discussed basic Psionic practice skills, along with how to correctly make a schedule, and why they are important for beginners.  “Fluff Terms” were briefly mentioned as well.

Many thanks to corbenik for the log.

**(This log has been edited for readability)**

(7:02:27)PM <metalforever> Evening, folks.
(7:02:35)PM <metalforever> Welcome to our first “Basics of Psychokinesis” class session.
(7:02:55)PM <metalforever> This first session will mainly focus on what this class is about, what you might be expecting and what psychokinesis really is.
(7:03:26)PM <metalforever> This class is being logged, and may be edited for readability.
(7:03:34)PM <metalforever> With that said, how is everyone this evening?

(7:03:43)PM <Sephectja> good thanks :3
(7:03:43)PM <Gonzo> great here
(7:03:45)PM <Onyx> ok
(7:03:45)PM <BrianTorrez> happy
(7:03:47)PM <Jenn> :)
(7:03:48)PM <Bah025> great
(7:03:50)PM <Bah025> thanks
(7:03:51)PM <Bah025> =)
(7:03:56)PM <kayenkpr> okay
(7:03:59)PM <Brent> Poor, just to break the trend.
(7:04:01)PM <Gonzo> just a stupid fly bothering me
(7:04:23)PM <metalforever> Welcome to this class. :)
(7:04:28)PM <metalforever> I will first begin with what I expect from you guys throughout this course.
(7:04:41)PM <metalforever> First and foremost, I expect that everyone here will show up for every class session unless otherwise stated beforehand.
(7:04:57)PM <metalforever>  I realize that things do come up, so not showing up once or twice by accident is alright, just try not make it a habit.
(7:05:38)PM <metalforever> I would appreciate it if everyone unable to make it, and those who accidentally missed a session, emailed me personally with reasons to why attendance was not possible.
(7:05:48)PM <metalforever> Also, I realize that there probably will be schedule conflicts.  This is alright, but I do appreciate being notified.
(7:05:57)PM <metalforever> If you happen to miss a class, please read the log that I post from the last week so that you remain up to speed with the rest of the class
(7:06:11)PM <metalforever> okay, are we good so far?

(7:06:16)PM <inspiredbyme> Yup.
(7:06:18)PM <Bah025> yep
(7:06:18)PM <Onyx> yup
(7:06:18)PM <metalforever> any questions, concerns?

(7:06:21)PM <Gonzo> sure head on!
(7:06:25)PM <Sephectja> *understood*
(7:06:25)PM <Jenn> sounds good
(7:06:27)PM <metalforever> righteous
(7:06:27)PM <metalforever> :)

(7:06:31)PM <Bah025> =)
(7:06:35)PM <metalforever> Okay, you might be wondering
(7:06:40)PM <metalforever> Why do I hold this policy?
(7:06:48)PM <metalforever> These classes sessions are set in such a way that they are meant to be read and understood in order.
(7:07:02)PM <metalforever> You cannot come here once or twice and expect to learn, understand and grow as a person in the way that this course is intended.
(7:07:15)PM <metalforever> Also, I had an issue with this previously.  I was unable to hold class for those who kept coming on an every-session basis because new people would show up, without reading the logs, and expected me to tell them what they missed, and how to do everything.

(7:07:42)PM <kayenkpr> *raise hand*
(7:07:58)PM <metalforever> what is your question?

(7:08:05)PM <kayenkpr> is the a link to the logs?
(7:08:35)PM <metalforever> but there is a link to logs under academics
(7:08:43)PM <metalforever> on our website, http://www.psionicsonline.net

(7:08:44)PM <kayenkpr> thank you
(7:09:15)PM <metalforever> This not only holds up the rest of the class and I, but I believe these sort of actions to be of utmost disrespect to my time and patience.  This is why I have been hesitant to hold classes in a detailed manner, in a specific order, instead of one-session seminars.
(7:09:36)PM <metalforever> People apparently either don’t think the ability is worth the time, or are signing up just to show me a lot of disrespect.  This really disappoints me as a dedicated practitioner and administrator.
(7:09:54)PM <metalforever> okay.
(7:10:05)PM <metalforever> With that said, please do your best not to ruin it for the new guys who discover Psionics 2-3 years down the road.
(7:10:16)PM <metalforever> Which times (use New York eastern time so we are all on the same page) tend to be the best for you?

(7:10:32)PM <corbenik> right now is pretty good
(7:10:43)PM <Onyx> agreed
(7:10:45)PM <Sephectja> Hour earlier would be preffered, but now is good
(7:10:46)PM <inspiredbyme> now, and late into the evening
(7:10:55)PM <BrianTorrez> now is perfect for me
(7:11:28)PM <Nesjamag> Around 15.00 – 16.00 as a start time
(7:11:30)PM <metalforever> next one is scheduled for 5 pm new york time
(7:11:38)PM <metalforever> this class started at 8 pm new york time
(7:11:48)PM <metalforever> but afterwards, i will try to make it at around 530-6.
(7:11:51)PM <metalforever> is that okay?
(7:11:56)PM <metalforever> I want everyone to be able to make it.

(7:12:04)PM <corbenik> sounds good to me
(7:12:06)PM <Sephectja> tis fine with me :3
(7:12:11)PM <Gonzo> post it in GMT please
(7:12:24)PM <Nesjamag> If its that early I’ll actually be able to attend while awake :)
(7:12:34)PM <inspiredbyme> I’ll try
(7:12:39)PM <Bah025> i’ll try
(7:12:50)PM <metalforever> next class is 10 pm GMT
(7:12:54)PM <metalforever> ^
(7:13:05)PM <metalforever> Okay, now its time to talk about my second policy.  Please do the homework I assign you.  In previous classes, only about 10% of the people who attended completed the assignments.
(7:14:05)PM <metalforever>  The class plan was set up in such a way where you needed to have done the homework to understand the lesson for that day, and the exercises which were intended to be completed.
(7:14:19)PM <metalforever> Any questions so far?

(7:14:32)PM <inspiredbyme> What will the homework be like?
(7:14:49)PM <inspiredbyme> Writing? Email? Physical excercises?
(7:14:56)PM <metalforever> it varies
(7:15:06)PM <metalforever> generally writing assignments and exercises.
(7:15:28)PM <metalforever> Okay, third policy.  No one is to have an off-topic conversation during class time.
(7:15:48)PM <metalforever> Why is this important guys and gals?
(7:15:52)PM *metalforever waits for an answer

(7:16:00)PM <Jenn> thats obvious
(7:16:05)PM <BrianTorrez> then it wouldnt be a class
(7:16:07)PM <inspiredbyme> To not get off topic and distrac others?
(7:16:11)PM <Bah025> exactly
(7:16:12)PM <PsionicZ> to pay attention
(7:16:22)PM <corbenik> because otherwise it wouldn’t be a class?
(7:16:30)PM <corbenik> it’d be chaotic talking, like the rest of irc
(7:16:37)PM <metalforever> all good answers!
(7:16:38)PM <Sephectja> Your attention isnt focused on the topic at hand
(7:16:42)PM <metalforever> wonderful!
(7:16:50)PM <metalforever> It inhibits others ability to understand.  This is intended to be a learning environment, much like school or a college course.
(7:17:04)PM <metalforever> Have you ever tried to pay attention to what a teacher was saying during class when the individuals behind you were being loud?

(7:17:22)PM <Onyx> all the time
(7:17:23)PM <PsionicZ> yea didnt work lol
(7:17:27)PM <metalforever> Yeah, disturbing.  Don’t do that.  Its also disrespectful to me.
(7:17:37)PM <metalforever> If excessive off-topic conversation occurs, as a private organization, we have to right to kick and/or ban you from this channel, for the course of the lesson, or even permanently.
(7:17:42)PM <metalforever> any questions or concerns?
(7:17:46)PM <metalforever> we are usually lenient
(7:17:47)PM <metalforever> :)
(7:17:58)PM <metalforever> This usually applies to blatant spamming/interuption of classes
(7:18:03)PM <metalforever> you guys all seem pretty cool.

(7:18:59)PM <Brent> That’s right, metal. We are cool.
(7:18:24)PM <inspiredbyme> Where will the logs be stored, what section specifically?
(7:19:25)PM <metalforever> Under the academics link, there is a log section
(7:19:25)PM <metalforever> :)

(7:19:36)PM <kayenkpr> i invited a friend here for the class
(7:19:47)PM <metalforever> Yes, we like that.
(7:19:38)PM <metalforever> Lets talk about guest speakers!

(7:19:52)PM <Onyx> sure!
(7:19:56)PM <metalforever> In the past, we had guest speakers come in and talk about things such as levitation, or in-depth meditation techniques.
(7:20:08)PM <metalforever> This is no more because of students behavior. Please do not ruin classes for everyone. Me teaching you in a class is a privilege, not a right.
(7:20:15)PM <metalforever> I’m not going to bring Float, Apollo, Peebrain or Zeus in here to teach you guys a lesson if you are going to be disrespectful.
(7:20:18)PM <metalforever> Understand?
(7:20:19)PM <metalforever> good
(7:20:22)PM <metalforever> :)

(7:20:32)PM <Bah025> ok
(7:20:42)PM <PsionicZ> very
(7:20:46)PM <Jenn> very understandable
(7:20:52)PM <Sephectja> understood =p
(7:21:28)PM <metalforever> We are at the fun part now.  Now that everything is out of the way, we are now going to actually talk about Psionics and Psychokinesis.
(7:21:40)PM *metalforever waits for a round of applause.

(7:21:50)PM * corbenik applauds
(7:21:51)PM *Brent applauds
(7:21:53)PM <Onyx> finally
(7:21:56)PM <Bah025> xD
(7:21:56)PM <BrianTorrez> [applause]
(7:22:05)PM *Brent thumbs up metalforever
(7:22:19)PM *Gonzo cheers
(7:22:21)PM *inspiredbyme applauds
(7:22:27)PM <metalforever> Okay!

(7:23:11)PM <SmoothOp> will this go typical science class level indepth?
(7:23:25)PM <metalforever> Pretty in-depth
(7:23:28)PM <metalforever> The most important question we must first ask ourselves, is, why are we all here?
(7:23:34)PM *metalforever waits for answers.

(7:23:57)PM <Sephectja> Because i’m interested and want to get better at PK
(7:24:02)PM <Onyx> um to see what you guys discuss
(7:24:03)PM <kayenkpr> because we want to better our selve in PK
(7:24:07)PM <BrianTorrez> I’m here to expand my mind
(7:24:12)PM <Gonzo> we are here to explore the reality we live in and to find answers no one came up with
(7:24:23)PM <Bah025> trying to learn more about what my mind is capable of
(7:24:39)PM <inspiredbyme> Want to learn psi and PK, for the sake of knowledge and ability
(7:24:51)PM <Sype11> to see how far I can push my self and to learn about energy to one day teach
(7:24:52)PM <inspiredbyme> Ultimate goal is pyrokinesis and crykinesis
(7:24:57)PM <metalforever> All wonderful answers!
(7:25:00)PM <metalforever> except that one.
(7:25:06)PM <metalforever> we wil get there, dont worry
(7:25:12)PM <metalforever> just stick by until the end of class.

(7:25:12)PM <inspiredbyme> lol k
(7:25:42)PM <BrianTorrez> the practice of psychic abilities
(7:25:52)PM <Bah025> uhm… abilities of our minds considered as “”paranormal” to most esceptics?
(7:25:53)PM <DemonIncubus> The manipulation of psi to achieve some desired outcome?
(7:26:00)PM <Gonzo> the search and practice of formally unknown abilities and experiences
(7:26:16)PM <metalforever> All pretty good answers
(7:26:18)PM <Nesjamag> I’m actually not sure what psionics is or how it is different from psychism
(7:26:38)PM <metalforever> Psionics is is the practice of using a variety of psychic abilities. The purpose of this class is to learn basic Psychokinesis.
(7:26:48)PM <metalforever> Nes, from a general, beginner standpoint.
(7:26:55)PM <metalforever> With me so far?

(7:26:58)PM <inspiredbyme> yep
(7:26:59)PM <Bah025> yup
(7:27:06)PM <PsionicZ> yea
(7:27:07)PM <Sephectja> Yush
(7:27:08)PM <corbenik> yes
(7:27:12)PM <Sype11> Yeppers
(7:27:13)PM <DemonIncubus> Yes
(7:27:14)PM <BrianTorrez> yep
(7:27:18)PM <Gonzo> and talking to death people
(7:27:20)PM <Jenn> mhm
(7:27:22)PM <metalforever> okay, godly.
(7:27:31)PM <Nesjamag> So its basically the same as psychism with focus on psychic abilities
(7:27:35)PM <metalforever> What do you guys think Psychokinesis is?
(7:27:44)PM <corbenik> the manipulation of energy and matter
(7:27:52)PM <SmoothOp> moving stuff without touching it
(7:27:54)PM <Bah025> the manipulation of matter by psychic means
(7:27:58)PM <Sype11> a general word for all Kinesis
(7:28:00)PM <kayenkpr> pushes sype to the front of the room
(7:28:07)PM <inspiredbyme> useage of Psi to generate work
(7:28:09)PM <BrianTorrez> manipulating matter with the mind
(7:28:25)PM <metalforever> Okay, most of those are pretty good
(7:28:35)PM <metalforever> Psychokinesis is the ability to influence the environment around you through means not physical.
(7:28:43)PM <metalforever> Psychokinesis can be divided into two sub-categories.
(7:28:52)PM <metalforever> Can anyone tell me which categories to which I am referring?

(7:29:01)PM <Bah025> micro and macro
(7:29:01)PM <Sephectja> Macro and Micro
(7:29:02)PM <SmoothOp> micro macro
(7:29:02)PM <DemonIncubus> Macro and Micro ”
(7:29:04)PM <BrianTorrez> micro and macro :)
(7:29:11)PM <inspiredbyme> Uhh what they said^
(7:29:32)PM <metalforever> yes
(7:29:34)PM <metalforever> wonderful!
(7:29:43)PM <metalforever> Psychokinesis can be divided up into Macro-Psychokinesis and Micro-Psychokinesis.
(7:29:54)PM <metalforever> Micro-Psychokinesis deals usually with manipulating chance, or manipulating statistics.
(7:30:32)PM <metalforever> An example of using micro-psychokinesis might be to influence a random number generator, or to alter the seemingly random screensaver on your computer.

(7:31:26)PM <inspiredbyme> I didn’t know you could do that…wow, I am a “science guy” how does that work exactly?
(7:32:03)PM <metalforever> inspiredbyme: We arent violating any laws of science
(7:32:55)PM <metalforever> Macro-Psychokinesis is probably what everyone is here for.
(7:33:03)PM <metalforever> Macro-Psychokinesis is the ability to manipulate concrete items.

(7:33:06)PM <SmoothOp> pretty much
(7:33:13)PM <metalforever> Examples of concrete items might be a psiwheel, a piece of foil, a pen, pencil, or even a book, through means not physical.

(7:33:24)PM <metalforever> With me so far?
(7:33:28)PM <Bah025> yup
(7:33:34)PM <corbenik> yes
(7:33:47)PM <Sype11> yep
(7:33:59)PM <BrianTorrez> yep
(7:34:10)PM <metalforever> Alright, you might be wondering what a psi-wheel is.
(7:34:21)PM <metalforever> A psi-wheel is an object that beginners frequently use in helping them learn the basics of PK, and how it works.
(7:34:33)PM <metalforever> We will be focusing on how to make a psiwheel, and how to move one during future class sessions.

(7:34:48)PM <SmoothOp> And how not to practice with a psi-wheel?
(7:35:07)PM <metalforever> Well, thats this class.
(7:35:11)PM <metalforever> actually
(7:35:17)PM <metalforever> With that said
(7:35:29)PM <metalforever> We are now going to discuss practice.
(7:35:38)PM <metalforever> That is, what is it?  Is it required?  What are some good practice habits?
(7:35:50)PM <metalforever> Okay, in your opinion, what is practice?

(7:35:56)PM <kayenkpr> time limits
(7:36:03)PM <corbenik> putting effort into what you want
(7:36:12)PM <Sephectja> Practice is putting time into learning a skill
(7:36:15)PM <Jenn> the strengthing of skills through focus and repetition
(7:36:17)PM <Bah025> uhm… reinforcement of knowledge by one’s means
(7:36:17)PM <corbenik> in order to do better in it
(7:36:27)PM <inspiredbyme> Meditation, concentration and psi practices, like energy manipulation
(7:36:39)PM <DemonIncubus> Trying various methods of achieving a goal and experimenting with them until the goal is achieivied, then re-enforcing the “best” discovered method
(7:36:41)PM <metalforever> Not specifically time limits.
(7:36:54)PM <metalforever> putting effort into what you want, yes.
(7:37:02)PM <metalforever> Seph: yes.

(7:37:06)PM <SmoothOp> making sure the psi-wheel is covered and there are no drafts in the room
(7:37:09)PM <metalforever> Jenn: very good.
(7:37:17)PM <Jenn> :)
(7:37:19)PM <metalforever> Bah: okay
(7:37:28)PM <metalforever> corben: pretty good
(7:37:39)PM <metalforever> inspiredbyme: wonderful!
(7:37:51)PM <metalforever> DemonIncubus: also, wonderful.

(7:37:44)PM <kayenkpr> question
(7:37:57)PM <metalforever> shoot

(7:38:13)PM <kayenkpr> would influncing a dice roll be simalar to macro or micro?
(7:38:21)PM <metalforever> micro.
(7:39:38)PM <SmoothOp> you could use a random number generartor too
(7:39:51)PM <metalforever> Yes, that was one good example.
(7:40:01)PM <metalforever> I am now going to tell you all what I feel practice is.
(7:40:08)PM <metalforever> Practice can be defined as a way to learn that includes repetition.
(7:40:51)PM <metalforever> How can repetition possibly be beneficial to Psionics?

(7:41:05)PM <corbenik> because that is how humans learn
(7:41:10)PM <corbenik> through trial and error
(7:41:16)PM <PsionicZ> the more you do it the more youll get used to it
(7:41:22)PM <Bah025> clearly, so we get better at what we are trying to accomplish
(7:41:39)PM <Gonzo> repetition does not work, but practise does
(7:41:42)PM <BrianTorrez> to tell your subconscious what you are doing is important
(7:41:42)PM <inspiredbyme> to know how to do it better, and get a feel for the right thing
(7:41:45)PM <kogua> positive feed back allows for a great understanding of what to do and what not to do
(7:41:54)PM <Gonzo> because you try different things when you fail at points
(7:42:03)PM <Sephectja> The more your practice, the better you get =p
(7:42:09)PM <metalforever> All pretty good answers.
(7:42:17)PM <metalforever> It is through practice that one learns and acquires experience.
(7:42:33)PM <metalforever> As a result, you are able to define the most efficient method of accomplishing Psionic-like things for yourself, and build an awareness of what you might be practicing, in order to make sure you can do it with a relatively high level of success.
(7:42:58)PM <metalforever> Is practice required to be successful in Psionics?

(7:43:01)PM <SmoothOp> can you over do it, like training the same muscle groups every day?
(7:43:03)PM <Gonzo> but repetition does not work, unless you build on it
(7:43:12)PM <metalforever> absolutely.
(7:43:16)PM <inspiredbyme> yes.
(7:43:17)PM <metalforever> we are getting there
(7:43:23)PM <metalforever> That depends on your definition of success.  If you are content with spottily being able to move the psiwheel, or with a miss rate in telepathy that almost corresponds with chance, then no.
(7:43:40)PM <metalforever> But generally, yes, you need to practice.
(7:44:04)PM <metalforever> I know what you are thinking. Oh no!  I actually have to put effort in something to be successful!

(7:44:14)PM <Bah025> hehe
(7:44:14)PM <metalforever> But you guys knew that already.
(7:44:25)PM <metalforever> Any questions so far?

(7:44:31)PM <Bah025> nope
(7:45:17)PM <PsionicZ> nop
(7:45:19)PM <corbenik> no
(7:45:25)PM <metalforever> okay, awesome.
(7:45:35)PM <metalforever> Now we are going to talk about *good* practice habits.
(7:45:44)PM <metalforever> Just like with so many other activities, how much practice required varies depending on many other factors.
(7:46:05)PM <metalforever> Some individuals also improve at a faster pace than others.
(7:46:41)PM <metalforever> Therefore, it would be unwise of me to give everyone a specific amount of time with which to practice.

(7:47:10)PM <Bah025> i have a question*
(7:47:28)PM <metalforever> What is the question
(7:47:34)PM <metalforever> An individual should practice for as long as he/she is comfortable- that is, not a bit more, not a bit less.

(7:48:01)PM <Bah025> uhm you said you’ll leave homework… what if it is practical andd one of us couldn’t accomplish it?
(7:48:48)PM <inspiredbyme> I’d assume we would tell him that and keep practicing that topic till we get it down
(7:49:06)PM <metalforever> You will be able to accomplish this one
(7:49:07)PM <metalforever> im sure.

(7:49:13)PM <Bah025> okok
(7:49:17)PM <Bah025> thx
(7:49:30)PM <metalforever> mmn
(7:49:39)PM <metalforever> moving on.
(7:49:51)PM <metalforever> What I said does not mean you should not practice at all.  This also does not mean you should overdo it.
(7:49:58)PM <metalforever> Lets first talk about overdoing practice.
(7:50:08)PM <metalforever> I can almost guarantee that if you practice for 5 straight hours every day, you will hurt yourself.  If you feel uncomfortable for ANY reason, please STOP.
(7:50:34)PM <metalforever> We are not liable for any injuries that occur to you, anyone or anything around you while practicing Psionics.
(7:50:41)PM <metalforever> So, how do you find the perfect practice time for you?  You experiment.  However, this does not mean testing out 5 hours of practice every day to see if you can do it.

(7:50:42)PM <inspiredbyme> gotcha
(7:50:51)PM <metalforever> Try practicing for a half hour, and see how that affects you.  (Again, if you feel uncomfortable at any time, you are instructed to stop BEFORE the 30 minutes is up).  Adjust your time incrementally until you feel comfortable.

(7:51:06)PM <SmoothOp> What kinds of injuries are common?
(7:51:16)PM <metalforever> im talking specifically about raging headaches
(7:51:23)PM <metalforever> inability to practice for a few days.
(7:51:24)PM <metalforever> etc.
(7:51:40)PM <metalforever> Also, many of us found that taking breaks can be very effective towards Psionics practice, and generally any sort of practice in general.  You may wish to grab a snack or some juice before you begin again, or after practice is over for the day.
(7:52:20)PM <metalforever> Generally, overworking yourself can even be worse than not practicing at all.
(7:52:25)PM <metalforever> Any questions yet?

(7:52:34)PM <corbenik> no
(7:52:35)PM <Bah025> no
(7:52:40)PM <PsionicZ> not yet
(7:52:41)PM <Jenn> no
(7:52:43)PM <kayenkpr> yes
(7:52:50)PM <inspiredbyme> nope
(7:52:58)PM <metalforever> righteous
(7:53:03)PM <Sephectja> Nope
(7:53:05)PM <metalforever> :)
(7:53:15)PM <metalforever> That means I must be doing a good job.
(7:53:19)PM <metalforever> (I hope.)

(7:53:20)PM <corbenik> you are
(7:53:22)PM <Bah025> =)
(7:53:25)PM <metalforever> yay :)

(7:53:25)PM <inspiredbyme> yup
(7:53:28)PM <metalforever> Alright, now we are going to talk about practicing too little.
(7:53:39)PM <metalforever> I expect you, as a student, to practice when we are not holding classes, and even once the class is over.
(7:53:48)PM <metalforever> This is a problem almost every time we hold classes.
(7:53:58)PM <metalforever> People would only practice during class sessions
(7:54:04)PM <metalforever> This is not how practice works.

(7:54:05)PM <kayenkpr> say one day i practice maybe for a hour(easy) and the next i practice for maybe 10 minutes because of shecudle would my pk ability go away?
(7:54:18)PM <metalforever> Take breaks within that hour.
(7:54:31)PM <metalforever> 10 minutes, well, on an every day basis
(7:54:46)PM <metalforever> Not go away, might “diminish” somewhat.
(7:55:02)PM <metalforever> Have to flex that pk muscle.
(7:55:07)PM <metalforever> Succeeding in almost anything takes practice, and the same thing applies to psychokinesis.

(7:55:09)PM <kayenkpr> i see
(7:55:21)PM <metalforever> Do not expect to learn anything, or be able to move any object with ease without practicing on a frequent basis, unless you are uncomfortable from the last practice session, or are incapable.

(7:55:51)PM <inspiredbyme> question
(7:56:32)PM <Onyx> I also have a question
(7:56:32)PM <inspiredbyme> Do practice times matter much? For instance if I practiced at 5pm one day then 11pm the next would it make a difference?
(7:56:39)PM <SmoothOp> how long should one say “focus” on an object before you stop and take a break?
(7:57:09)PM <metalforever> inspired: i feel its good to “get into the habit”, but not so much
(7:57:24)PM <metalforever> SmoothOP: Thats where the experimentation aspect comes in.

(7:57:49)PM <Onyx> may I ask whats the biggest thing you have moved metal?:e
(7:57:56)PM <metalforever> Levitation of foil
(7:58:12)PM <metalforever> I know what you are thinking, oh no practice.  “ I might get away with no practice at all, and Metalforever won’t notice”.

(7:58:32)PM <SmoothOp> like, could one say, move a psi-wheel within <5 seconds, like how people can make psiballs really fast
(7:59:01)PM <metalforever> Yes.
(7:59:52)PM <metalforever> its kind of easy to spot people who arent dedicated.
(7:59:58)PM <metalforever> anyway
(7:59:59)PM <metalforever> wrong.
(8:00:01)PM <metalforever> I will notice
(8:00:10)PM <metalforever> Any questions, concerns or comments that involve practice?

(8:00:16)PM <Bah025> nope
(8:00:27)PM <corbenik> where do i sign up for the classes?
(8:00:36)PM <metalforever> Corbenik: on the class page
(8:00:41)PM <metalforever> its under academics, under classes

(8:00:44)PM <Jenn> mmm
(8:01:10)PM <metalforever> Alright.  The next thing on our agenda is practice schedules.
(8:01:16)PM <metalforever> What are practice schedules?
(8:01:24)PM <metalforever> A schedule, in relation to Psionics, can be defined as a concrete way of practicing that you set up for yourself.
(8:01:33)PM <metalforever> Now,  this does not mean concrete times.  Concrete times don’t actually work for me personally, because I’m always preoccupied when alarms to do things go off.
(8:01:43)PM <metalforever> A bad example of setting up a schedule might also be “I will practice Psionics starting tomorrow for 30 minutes, with one break in-between”.
(8:01:49)PM <metalforever> This might seem like a good ieda.
(8:01:52)PM <metalforever> But it is bad.
(8:01:54)PM <metalforever> Why?
(8:02:05)PM <metalforever> First of all, you might try to put practice off.  Second of all, your schedule does not tell you HOW you will go about practicing.
(8:02:14)PM <metalforever> Let me explain
(8:02:49)PM <metalforever> The best way to make a schedule is to break down one seemingly vague or hard to accomplish task into mini-steps, so that you may be able to successfully practice when the time comes.
(8:03:01)PM <metalforever> An example would be to outline a specific goal for today, tomorrow, the next day, or every day from now on.  Examples of mini-goals for this larger step might be:
(8:03:17)PM <metalforever> “I will finish my homework beforehand so that I may practice when the time comes”
(8:03:27)PM <metalforever> “I will not be on IRC chat or any sort of messenger so that I may practice Psionics as much as I need or wish to”
(8:03:42)PM <metalforever> “ I will also turn off my PC so that I do not get on the computer when I am supposed to be practicing anyway”
(8:03:54)PM <metalforever> “ I will make sure my child is occupied before attempting practice”.
(8:04:04)PM <metalforever> Yeah… You guys know where im going with this.
(8:04:08)PM <metalforever> You might also be wondering.
(8:04:14)PM <metalforever> Why do I need a schedule?
(8:04:19)PM <metalforever> Why is it important?

(8:04:55)PM <metalforever> Practicing on a daily schedule is important for beginners because it gives you a set time, and helps assure you will get past that initial learning curve faster than you might if you were practicing in a “spotty” way.
(8:05:04)PM <inspiredbyme> to keep track of what you missed/need to work on?
(8:05:15)PM <metalforever> yes, good answer.
(8:05:27)PM <metalforever> Once you get going, it may even become habit to practice at a specific time, or during a specific period.
(8:06:07)PM <metalforever> This is generally what you want if you wish to gain some success as a beginner at the skill- repetition of practice.
(8:06:11)PM <metalforever> Any questions?

(8:06:30)PM <Bah025> nope
(8:06:31)PM <corbenik> none so far
(8:06:35)PM <Bah025> doing fine
(8:06:36)PM <Bah025> =)
(8:06:58)PM <inspiredbyme> yep
(8:07:02)PM <miri> No Ma’am
(8:07:13)PM <metalforever> That means im doing a good job, i hope.
(8:07:18)PM <metalforever> and not just boring you guys to death
(8:07:20)PM <metalforever> fantastic

(8:07:22)PM <metalforever> lets move on
(8:07:22)PM <Jenn> never
(8:07:32)PM <metalforever> Alright, we are now going to try a schedule-creating exercise.
(8:07:42)PM <metalforever> Everyone, get a piece of paper (not wordpad) and a pencil/pen (not a keyboard).
(8:08:04)PM <metalforever> Reply when you have done so

(8:08:08)PM <inspiredbyme> got it
(8:08:09)PM <Jenn> here
(8:08:11)PM <DemonIncubus> Done
(8:08:17)PM <Bah025> done
(8:08:19)PM <BrianTorrez> got it
(8:08:24)PM <corbenik> done
(8:08:26)PM <kayenkpr> brb
(8:08:40)PM <PsionicZ> done
(8:09:07)PM <miri> done
(8:09:14)PM <metalforever> Welcome back
(8:09:18)PM <metalforever> Everyone looks done

(8:09:20)PM <Sephectja> Done
(8:09:21)PM <kayenkpr> back with pencil and paper
(8:09:24)PM <metalforever> awesome
(8:09:24)PM <metalforever> :)

(8:09:26)PM *SmoothOp raises hand
(8:09:35)PM <metalforever> What is your question?

(8:09:39)PM <SmoothOp> could i make a mindmap about pk on www.bubbl.us ?
(8:10:59)PM <mike11> can i read this all in the logs? im missing alot due to internet connection
(8:11:00)PM <metalforever> sure.
(8:11:06)PM <metalforever> Yes, mikell
(8:11:16)PM <metalforever> Logs are located in the academics section
(8:11:21)PM <metalforever> there is a link that says “logs”
(8:11:42)PM <metalforever> Now, important steps for me might involve the computer, but for you , it might involve something totally different.
(8:12:14)PM <metalforever> You may also wish to include information about breaks, amount of time to try for practice, or other relevant details.
(8:12:24)PM <metalforever> You want to outline a larger goal, and include many mini-goals that make your larger goal possible.
(8:12:29)PM <metalforever> Understand?

(8:12:32)PM <corbenik> yes
(8:12:55)PM <Bah025> uhm… yeap
(8:13:01)PM <inspiredbyme> yep
(8:13:28)PM <metalforever> Okay, do this now, and reply when done.

(8:13:31)PM <Jenn> understood :)
(8:13:46)PM <DemonIncubus> So, just an outline bascally?
(8:13:58)PM <metalforever> At the core level
(8:13:59)PM <metalforever> yes.
(8:14:01)PM <metalforever> Go

(8:16:06)PM <BrianTorrez> i guess I’m done
(8:16:19)PM <corbenik> done
(8:16:21)PM <PsionicZ> yea im finish
(8:16:24)PM <Bah025> done
(8:16:28)PM <DemonIncubus> Done
(8:16:43)PM <Jenn> done i think
(8:16:47)PM <kayenkpr> outline check time of next class check
(8:16:53)PM <Sephectja> Done
(8:17:02)PM <metalforever> Is everyone done?

(8:17:08)PM <inspiredbyme> would small goals for the week ahead be psiballs/shielding?
(8:18:33)PM <inspiredbyme> yeah
(8:18:46)PM <DemonIncubus> >.>
(8:18:51)PM <PsionicZ> make goals
(8:18:58)PM <metalforever> alright
(8:18:59)PM <metalforever> awesome/

(8:19:03)PM <Bah025> Jenn, basicly writting down how you will practice… and establishing goals
(8:19:33)PM <metalforever> Alright, now we are going to share what we have written.

(8:19:45)PM <metalforever> BrianTorrez: you first

(8:20:01)PM <BrianTorrez> one session before and after school
(8:20:44)PM <metalforever> okay
(8:20:47)PM <metalforever> and mini goals are?

(8:21:01)PM <BrianTorrez> I dont have any
(8:21:19)PM <BrianTorrez> I’m just starting with the psi wheel and work my way up
(8:21:51)PM <metalforever> Brian:  focus on eliminating things that bother you before your practice.

(8:22:05)PM <metalforever> corbenik: your turn

(8:22:19)PM <corbenik> my overall goal for the next week is control of the psi wheel
(8:22:33)PM <metalforever> what were your mini goals?
(8:22:35)PM <corbenik> tomorrow after school i’ll practice, which includes creating the wheel
(8:22:46)PM <corbenik> the next day is trying to spin it, in any direction
(8:22:54)PM <corbenik> then spinning it with more control
(8:22:58)PM <corbenik> and then longer
(8:23:15)PM <corbenik> this is until it comes to me easily
(8:23:17)PM <corbenik> like walking
(8:23:38)PM <metalforever> wonderful
(8:23:53)PM <metalforever> that was pretty good for your first try
(8:23:59)PM <metalforever> try that out and let me know how it goes.

(8:24:13)PM <metalforever> PsionicZ: your turn
(8:24:48)PM *metalforever waits patiently.
(8:24:49)PM <PsionicZ> practice for about 30minutes then take 1 hour breaks
(8:25:10)PM <metalforever> Okay, and did you establish any mini goals to make sure you actually accomplish this?
(8:25:23)PM <PsionicZ> goals are to move a pen forward or back to have more control over the psi wheel
(8:26:08)PM <metalforever> Alright, and what were your mini goals?
(8:26:22)PM <PsionicZ> to move a pen
(8:26:48)PM <PsionicZ> more control over the psi wheel
(8:27:05)PM <metalforever> and good PsionicZ

(8:25:40)PM <SmoothOp> my goal is to move a paper star
(8:25:50)PM <SmoothOp> starrypaper.blogspot.com <— one of those

(8:27:53)PM <metalforever> Bah025: What about you?

(8:28:25)PM <Bah025> ok i’ll be practicing 30 daily, an hour on saturdays and sundays, expec to increase it weekly
(8:28:27)PM <Bah025> goals are
(8:28:57)PM <Bah025> being able to move a pen or similar objects in a month [big goal]
(8:29:09)PM <metalforever> keep  going
(8:29:21)PM <Bah025> and minis are to control the psiwheel better each week [speed, control, direction, etc]
(8:29:29)PM <Bah025> it goes on and on
(8:30:16)PM <metalforever> Bah025: WONDERFUL
(8:30:19)PM <metalforever> thats what im looking for

(8:30:23)PM <Bah025> oh
(8:30:28)PM <Bah025> =)
(8:30:30)PM <Bah025> thx

(8:28:32)PM <metalforever> kayenkpr ?

(8:29:14)PM <kayenkpr> 30 mins sessions between 10-12 and 5-7 with hour breaks inbtween
(8:29:34)PM <kayenkpr> goal=moving a empty can of monster
(8:30:43)PM <kayenkpr> mini goals spin psi wheel around at least 5 – 20 times if in both directions
(8:30:31)PM <metalforever> Kayenpkr: good.

(8:28:15)PM <metalforever> DemonIncubus?

(8:29:37)PM *DemonIncubus wonders if he should be describing  it?
(8:30:42)PM <metalforever> DemonIncubus: sure
(8:31:38)PM <DemonIncubus> Okay: After getting  home  and prepping practice for whatever comfortable amount often (~hour I suppose)
(8:32:08)PM <metalforever> DemonIncubus: go on

(8:32:32)PM <DemonIncubus> Start with a psi-wheel but after several weeks / months move onto other, less sensitive objects (like a pencil or cube)
(8:33:04)PM <DemonIncubus> I might practice micro-PK before macro-PK  depending on how  feel about both
(8:33:09)PM <metalforever> DemonIncubus: you might also wish to try the foil
(8:33:17)PM <metalforever> videos on how to make the foil are in our media section
(8:33:17)PM <metalforever> :)

(8:33:18)PM <DemonIncubus> “the foil” ?
(8:33:25)PM <metalforever> Yes, see our media section
(8:33:46)PM <DemonIncubus> After finished with psi-wheel I’d try and move larger/jheavier objects at a set rate of progresson
(8:33:52)PM <metalforever> very good
(8:34:04)PM <DemonIncubus> Like, start with 1 penny, then 2, then 3….
(8:34:30)PM <DemonIncubus> *finished

(8:28:35)PM <metalforever> Jenn ?

(8:32:49)PM <Jenn> welll i  want to practice at least 1/2 a day and move up as long as comfort permits, and a mini is that of gaining some more knowledge on the topic of psychokinesis
(8:33:21)PM <Jenn> i obviolusly don’t know very much
(8:33:33)PM <metalforever> Jenn, very good
(8:33:58)PM <metalforever> im impressed so far guys
(8:33:58)PM <metalforever> :)

(8:34:24)PM <metalforever> Seph: go

(8:30:29)PM <Sephectja> I have small list list of goals
(8:34:31)PM <Sephectja> My current achived goals: Move the psi-wheel in a direction (Back to being how I used to be before I stopped practicing)
(8:34:51)PM <Sephectja> My next now is to try and gain more control, and under a glass
(8:34:56)PM <metalforever> okay
(8:35:20)PM <Sephectja> Well, I currently have a psi-wheel setup under a glass =p
(8:35:38)PM <metalforever> Seph: good
(8:35:41)PM <Sephectja> ready for me when I decide I want to practice, which is usually an hour or two before I go to bed
(8:36:53)PM <Sephectja> My long term goal is to eventually be able to levitate stuff =p
(8:37:06)PM <metalforever> Seph: wonderful goal

(8:35:55)PM <metalforever> inspiredbyme: go

(8:30:15)PM <inspiredbyme> mines kind of long, it’s detailed
(8:35:58)PM <inspiredbyme> May 27-Class, May 28- Homework and light practice, 20 min no breaks, May 29- Practice, May 30-Relax with meditation 1hr, May 31 Practice/Light meditation 20min each, June 1-Meditation & Read up on PK/Research, June 2-Review homework, June 3rd-class My mini goals are energy manipulation and concentration, making a psi wheel and begin to try and move it. Practice is 35min with 8min breaks
(8:36:37)PM <metalforever> inspired by me: fantastic!

(8:38:22)PM <metalforever> Before leaving tonight, I have one more topic I need to cover.
(8:38:32)PM <metalforever> Lets talk about fluff terms!
(8:38:40)PM <metalforever> Okay guys, define “fluff” for me.  Its okay if you dont know.

(8:38:57)PM <PsionicZ> dont know
(8:39:05)PM <Bah025> it’s like a not rude way to say BS
(8:39:12)PM <metalforever> kind of right
(8:39:16)PM <DemonIncubus> “b*llshit” basically ?  Unrealistic  (in psi terms)
(8:39:16)PM <BrianTorrez> terms that make you want to slap the hell out of the speaker
(8:39:20)PM <metalforever> yes
(8:39:23)PM <metalforever> YES
(8:39:28)PM <metalforever> i specifically LOVE that last one
(8:39:43)PM <metalforever> the best sentence to describe fluff is:
(8:39:56)PM <metalforever> mom, im going to kamehameha you

(8:40:02)PM <Bah025> HAHAHAHA
(8:40:03)PM <PsionicZ> lol
(8:40:07)PM <metalforever> Okay, you can not blow your parents heads off with a kamehameha.
(8:40:23)PM <metalforever> Everyone, try to give me an example of at least ONE fluff term

(8:40:44)PM <DemonIncubus> “aerokinesis”
(8:40:48)PM <inspiredbyme> “I’ll levitate you in air from a 50ft building, trust me”
(8:40:54)PM <BrianTorrez> geokinesis
(8:41:10)PM <metalforever> all good examples!

(8:41:11)PM <SmoothOp> waterkinesis
(8:41:12)PM <metalforever> anyone else?
(8:41:16)PM <metalforever> wonderful.
(8:41:18)PM <PsionicZ> biokinesis
(8:41:20)PM <SmoothOp> photokinesis
(8:41:22)PM <kayenkpr> hydrokinesis
(8:41:19)PM <Bah025> can fluff be more like a way of speaking, not exactly a single word?
(8:41:49)PM <metalforever> Bah025: ABSOLUTELY
(8:41:51)PM <metalforever> all good.

(8:41:59)PM <Bah025> like saying, i can fly at 1000 miles an hour
(8:42:02)PM <Jenn> why do we use fluff terms sorry?
(8:42:06)PM <SmoothOp> we don’t
(8:42:11)PM <metalforever> we dont!
(8:42:19)PM <metalforever> Acceptable terms for psychokinesis here are Psychokinesis, Telekinesis, PK, TK, Macro-Psychokinesis, Micro-Psychokinesis, DMILS, Micro-PK, Macro-PK and variations thereof.
(8:42:29)PM <metalforever> If you wish to refer to manipulating fire or the like, say “PK with fire” or equivalent.

(8:42:34)PM <Sephectja> DMILS?
(8:42:34)PM <Bah025> what is DMILS?
(8:42:44)PM <metalforever> Direct Mental Interactions with Living Systems
(8:42:54)PM <metalforever> im not sure if people mention that much any more
(8:44:19)PM <metalforever> okay.
(8:44:27)PM <metalforever> Why do we have specific pk terms?
(8:44:36)PM <metalforever> We don’t need a bunch of children making up new terms every day, which frankly, just confuse individuals that are new to the practice.

(8:44:43)PM <BrianTorrez> to avoid confusion
(8:44:46)PM <Jenn> uniformity
(8:44:52)PM <metalforever> yes! good answers!
(8:44:43)PM <metalforever> Second, I see it as a breeding ground for misconceptions, false information, delusions, etc.
(8:44:49)PM <metalforever> im hoping you all agree

(8:44:54)PM <Bah025> yes
(8:44:55)PM <Jenn> yes
(8:45:04)PM <Bah025> totally understandable
(8:45:13)PM <inspiredbyme> yup
(8:45:21)PM <metalforever> Third, most of the community is frankly not going to know what you are talking about.
(8:45:29)PM <metalforever>  They are also probably going to think you have some sort of mental issue.
(8:45:46)PM <metalforever> So, just do yourself a favor, and save time and trouble by NOT using fluff terms.
(8:45:59)PM <metalforever> Any questions regarding this issue?

(8:46:10)PM <inspiredbyme> pyro and cryo are not fluff right?
(8:46:20)PM <metalforever> yes, they are fluff.
(8:46:23)PM <metalforever> actually
(8:46:28)PM <metalforever> most communities dont consider them fluff.
(8:46:29)PM <metalforever> i do
(8:46:34)PM <metalforever> say pk with fire, water etc
(8:46:36)PM <inspiredbyme> but do they exist?
(8:46:46)PM <metalforever> pk with fire, yes, exists

(8:46:49)PM <SmoothOp> that’s why this is all fluff
(8:46:58)PM <SmoothOp> because there is no standard
(8:47:04)PM <metalforever> good !

(8:47:04)PM <SmoothOp> and people can’t communicate properly
(8:47:07)PM <metalforever> GOOD!

(8:47:14)PM <Bah025> yup
(8:47:19)PM <metalforever> Moving on, I’d like to discuss the homework I expect from you for next weeks session.
(8:47:27)PM <metalforever> Please do this, because you will need it for the next class.  See the beginning of this session for what I said in regards to homework.

(8:47:37)PM <Bah025> ok
(8:47:44)PM <metalforever> Your homework assignment is to make notes regarding your habits.
(8:47:51)PM <metalforever> How do you learn in school?  Which methods towards learning other subjects do you find effective? Do you learn through examples?  Do you learn visually?  Are you good at visualizing certain scenarios?  What kind of habits when practicing other skills do you have?
(8:47:58)PM <metalforever> yeah
(8:48:00)PM <metalforever> all that good stuff
(8:48:09)PM <metalforever> Basically, get to know yourself on paper
(8:48:19)PM <metalforever> I have a direction with this
(8:48:20)PM <metalforever> i promise
(8:48:23)PM <metalforever> please do it
(8:48:26)PM <metalforever> its needed
(8:48:28)PM <metalforever> This homework assignment must be at least 15 sentences, or 3 paragraphs.

(8:48:35)PM <Bah025> question
(8:48:41)PM <metalforever> What is your question?

(8:48:55)PM <Bah025> habits like, learning habits? or any kind of habits?
(8:49:14)PM <metalforever> every kind.
(8:49:19)PM <metalforever> basically, get to know yourself on paper

(8:49:25)PM <Bah025> okok
(8:49:30)PM <metalforever> Any lingering questions?
(8:50:01)PM <Sephectja> What would you say is a good way to advance from the psi-wheel? a can/pencil?
(8:50:22)PM <metalforever> the foil
(8:51:59)PM <Jenn> thank you metalforever
(8:52:06)PM <PsionicZ> thanks
(8:52:08)PM <metalforever> You are definitely welcome
(8:52:10)PM <metalforever> it has been a pleasure

(8:52:14)PM <Bah025> this homework, we just do it the “honor” way, or should we e-mail it or something?
