Our Approach Towards Psionics
Thoughts as a Basis for Action
An action is but an outward expression of one's thoughts. Thought is the commencement of an action. (Liber Librae, The Equinox Vol 1 No 1, p. 19-20) Giving attention to one's thoughts and to oneself is an essential step before being able to manipulate the environment. In this sequence, we begin with exercises centered around controlling your speech, actions, and thoughts(in essence, controlling yourself), before proceeding on to exercises meant to help you control the environment around you (i.e. sensitivity and external awareness, telekinesis, some forms of energy manipulation).
Gaining control of oneself is an essential step in beginners Psionics, and should not be skipped over in favor of more "flamboyant" exercises, such as attempting to move a psiwheel or another physical external object. Meditation and related exercises help you to maintain self-control, assist you in being a more focused individual when you practice, help you to practice focused visualization, and help you to maintain mental clarity.
Be a Skeptic
Doubt every statement. Subject every statement to the test of experiment. (Book 4 Part 1, Preliminary Remarks pg. 7) Our approach towards psionics relies on you as the experimenter. When you achieve a certain result, be "scientific" in the way you approach it.
> When you practice meditation exercises, err in favor of not attaching various conclusions to your experience(i.e. this experience must represent x). Instead engage in the viewpoint of considering all experiences at face value. Note all environmental variables, your physical state, your mental state, length of meditation, and changes in your various mental an physical states in your psychic journal. Don't be lenient with how many times you diverge from your stated goal. While taking notes, be sure to remark about consistencies in your mental state and experiences.
>When having a "success" in telepathy, take note of all your previous failures. It it possible that your success is a chance occurrence(Probability P > .05)? This is why we keep a psychic journal, so that we can determine whether or not the experience can be seen as successful.
> When having a "success" in psychokinesis (telekinesis), was the apparent "success" due to factors in the environment such as a window being open, heat vents, your hands, or your computer?
For example, back in 2005 or so, I was practicing psychokinesis with a foil psiwheel that I placed on top of a CRT monitor(on my computer), so that I could focus on practicing during the time when the page loaded, because I was
