Chapter 1: Psychic / Psionic Abilities Brief Overview

Very Basics of Energy Constructs

Energy Constructs, explained as a psychic skill, can be defined as the ability to program energy or psi for the purpose of performing a certain desired task by the creator.  In our community, we sometimes refer to energy constructs as "shields", "energetic shields", "psiballs", energy constructs, or simply, constructs.  The category of energy constructs may also be broadly referred to as "energy manipulation" by psychics, or psionic users.   The term energy manipulation is common for this particular set of skills, however, it has recently fallen into disfavor due to the ideology that everything psychic or psionic-related is basically energy manipulation at its core, along with many other skills that we accomplish during daily life.

A Realistic View of "Energy Constructs"

This psychic / psionic skill is one of the most misunderstood abilities by beginners today.  This is perhaps due to the fact that it is one of the most seldom researched fields by scientists and parapsychologists, the concept is more abstract, and because it appears less frequently in the media.  This is unfortunate as the ability to manipulate and create energy constructs in a psychic way is one of the most essential skills in Psionics, and it is often overlooked for more "flashy" forms of psychicism, such as telekinesis (Psychokinesis), although knowledge and the ability to apply energy constructs on a daily basis is essential to success in advanced forms of these "flashy" psychic or psionic skills.  Realistic applications of energy constructs by beginners might be "shielding" to prevent telepathic overload(telepathy has the chance of becoming "overbearing" in nature), or application of an energy construct to assist with Psychokinesis practice.

An Unrealistic View of "Energy Constructs"

When we explain the concept of energy constructs to beginners, it is often misconstrued.  Common, wrong, unrealistic views of energy constructs frequently given by beginners are that A. beginners have the ability to hurt people physically with these, and that B.  Energy Constructs are visible at all times, and if one can't see them, that means he/she wasn't successful.  It is very rare that even an experienced user of this psychic / psionic skill has the ability to *physically* hurt a person with a construct.  The second unrealistic view that beginners often have is false because even experienced users of this psychic / psionic skill have trouble with producing a physically visible energetic construct.  This can easily be explained by a simple metaphor.  Imagine a hypothetical situation where we are in an imaginary basketball court, holding a basketball.  The basketball as at a still, stationary state until we thow the basketball in the hoop.  It took energy to throw the basketball into the hoop.  Did we see that energy? No.  We saw the energy in the form of an action, which was the basketball going into the hoop.  Energy Constructs are the same way.  They are seen in terms of the successful actions they complete.  However, this doesn't mean that they can't be seen, it just means that they can't be seen frequently.  Psychic / Psionic practicioners who are particularly skilled at creating energy constructs have the ability to create a visible manifestation of an energy construct (most often as a spontaneous action).  This is called "flaring".  Having the view that a beginner can "flare" or hurt somebody physically with an energy construct is an unrealistic view.

What is a Psiball?

A psiball, within the context of Psionics and psychic abilities, can be defined as an energy construct commonly made by beginners for the sole purpose of either A. amusement, or B. to teach the beginner how to gather and move energy around in a psychic way.  You can't jump into energy constructs without learning the basics, right?  Beginners who engage in *realistic* psiball practice program psi balls with the sole intent of creating a psychic ball of, you guessed it, energy.  Beginners who engage in *unrealistic* psiball or psychic practice expect to see their psiballs within a week, and attempt to program them, abit unsuccessfully, with an intent other than to create a mere ball of energy.  Unrealistic psychic practitioners skip the basics, and never gain accurate groundwork skills such as learning how to move and gather energy in the first place.

About Basic Energetic Constructs

Basic energetic constructs, excluding the psiball, within the context of basic Psionics and psychic abilities, can be defined as energy grouped together which is given, or "programmed", a specific task, by the psionic or psychic practitioner. A realistic practice schedule for a beginner in psionic or psychic abilities would include first learning how to make a psiball and maintain a psiball through shelling (we will cover this later), then learning how to program and make a basic energetic construct.  An unrealistic practice schedule for a beginner in psychic or psionic abilities might be learning how to create a psiball and learning how to program a basic energetic construct at the same time.  An example of a beginner's basic energy construct  might be an energetic construct that is programmed to respond to energy in a certain way, or one that is programmed to behave in a certain way, such as a "hot" psi ball.

Shielding: A Definition

Shielding, within the context of Psionics, psychic abilities, and energy constructs, can be defined as the act of designing a construct with the specific intent of protecting onself from psychic / psionic overload, or attacks.  An individual that does not yet know how to create a psiball or a basic construct with proficiency would not find success in creating anything other than a very basic shield.  A realistic practice schedule for a beginner would be learning how to create and maintain a psiball (by shelling, we will get to this later), learning how to create and program an energetic construct that does its intended task, and then working on shielding, after the beginner has mastered the basics of both of these categories. An unrealistic practice schedule for a beginner would be incorporating psiballs, general construct programming, and shielding into one seemingly coherent schedule without before learning how to properly pool and manipulate energy. An example of a common beginners shield is a "bubble shield", which is good for a basic or everyday problem.

Grounding and Centering Introduction

Individuals have what we will refer to as an "energy field".  Through heavy energy manipulation or psychic practice, this "field" can get "messy".  It is possible for a "messy" field to impede the success of psionic or psychic practice.  Therefore, what we refer to as "field management" becomes very important for the beginning practitioner.  One of the most common methods of field refinement is "grounding and centering".  Grounding is a psychic / psionic term that can be defined as the act of releasing, filtering out, and exhanging energy into the surrounding area.  Centering can be defined as the act of moving one's attention towards the inner self to balance emotion.  Beginners who have a realistic view of psychic phenomena, psionics, and energy constructs clean their fields on a semi-daily basis, along with their psiball, basic programming, and shielding practice. Beginners who have an unrealistic view of psychic phenomena and energy constructs think they can get away with not grounding and centering.

Energetic Scanning and You

Scanning, within the context of Psionics, psychic abilities, and energy constructs, can be defined as the act of observing information(in this case, a psi ball, basic energetic construct, or a shield) psychically.  An example of a purpose that basic scanning might fulfill for a beginner is a confirmation that your psi-ball, construct, or shield is infact there.  Beginners who have a realistic view of psychic phenomena, psionics, and energetic constructs, realize that such a method, when practiced by a beginner, can have erronous results.  An unrealistic beginner will assume that the construct is there, or will trust his/her scan 100% even though he/she hasn't been performing scanning a long time, or hasn't encountered many events that confirm the accuracy of his/her scanning ability.
