Sit down in a quiet room in a chair where you will not be disturbed. Close your eyes. Return to the scene as described in exercises four and five. Do not worry about incorporating taste, visuals, or auditory information into the imaginary scene you constructed at this point in time. Choose a food item at random. Hold the smell of the food item in your nostrils for a few seconds. After you have mastered this, steadily increase the amount of time you hold the smell in your nostrils as you did when you imagined a taste in exercise four.
Do this exercise until you can imagine a smell for 30 seconds with no breaks. Remember to note your progress in your journal.
