Lucid Dreaming
I want to lucid dream, it seems fun, like something to do while sleeping. I have a friend who never heard of psionics until I told him about it, but he told me that he could control his dreams before I found out about psionics (which was recently, like 2, 3 months ago). But I told him people call it lucid dreaming when I saw about it, but anyways when he did tell me he could control his dreams he said it's REALLY easy for him. He said he just says to himself, while dreaming of course, something like "I want to see Joe behind me" (just made up a name) and he would turn around and see it right there, or he wants to see an object and would. He said if he wants to go somewhere he would just say to himself "this door will take me (then to whereever he wants to go)" or behind this door is...... and he would open the door and see that place, but I'm not sure if he turns around and then sees the door or if he already sees it, but it most likely doesn't matter, if he sees a door he can most liklely make it go where ever, or he can just know that one's behind him like he does to see people/objects in his dreams. But since he can just naturally do it he can't really tell me how to do it, because I'm not usually aware of when I'm dreaming so can anyone tell me what their technique is, so I can kinda make a different one off of it for one that I think will work best for me.
Well, once you're lucid, the rest is pretty easy. From what I've read and done, all you really need to do is what your friend does. If that doesn't work for you, try starting small, like pulling candy out of your pocket. Another popular technique is to close your eyes and spin around, planning to wind up in your desired location.
As for actually getting lucid, there's way too many techniques for me to list. A simple one is to keep a record of your dreams and try to identify a common factor. Then, train yourself to check your surroundings for inconsistencies whenever you notice these things.
A good source of information on this is LD4all.com
yea, I think once i get lucid I'll be able to do it like my friend, accpet my friends like a natural at it he doesn't have to make himself lucid he just can at any given moment, and he can stop if he wants, lik ejust let the dream keep happening as it was, I'm pretty sure. I'm just looking for some people's personal techniques like one's they use everytime they do lucid dreaming, and I think I may have lucid dreamed once, but what happened was I noticed I was dreaming and wanted to wake up but couldn't, but I couldn't control anything. So if anyone knows any good techniques for them that they want to share I would be happy to listen to them.

Make a list of "dream checks". These are everyday instances that occur in most people's lives. They are so normal that most people do not notice them. Such things may include a dog barking, someone saying "Good morning", a red car passing by, etc. Every time one of these occurs, ask yourself if you are dreaming. At first, you may not notice many dream checks, but after time you should only miss 1 or 2 in a day. Once your mind gets used to the idea of randomly checking if you're dreaming or not, this will start to happen in your dreams.
I do not credit this as my own idea, I read about it in an online article. I've used it for some time now and I can say it does work.
oh cool! I get it, so you kinda trick your mind in a way. So I used to always hear a rooster crow in the mornin (no I don't live in the country or on a farm it's actually a pretty populated spot and pretty commercial too) but anyway I would check for things like that, everyday and start noticing things, and say "alright, am I dreaming" until it pretty much becomes a habit. Then eventually in a dream I'll most likely ask myself one day if I am dreaming (but will I randomly ask myself, or only when I hear a rooster crow in my dream, which is just an example now because I don't kno wwhat my neighbors did with it, probably ate it), so pretty much will I randomly dream check in a dream, or only in my dream when I notice something that happens when I'm awake a lot. And so this method will take a little while before it works, like probably at least a week to two before I dream check in a dream?

I hate to quote something from Star Trek... specially seeing as I hate the show... but anyways, they did something similar once. One of the guys on Voyager did his little dream adventure things, controlling the path of his dreams. His trick was to see the moon. 'Cause their ship was light years away from earth, he knew that if he saw the moon, it was a dream. Same kinda thing, right?
The only power capable of matching Human ingenuity is Human stupidity.
I don't know if it's the exact same, because it seemed like BlackJack and Lleu were telling me to check for things in my dream that I see everyday. It seems like in star trek he obviosuly doesn't see the moon much anymore, at least not during whenever he was checking to see if he was dreaming, but he did it kinda opposite, he checked for something he wouldn't see because he's so far away, but I guess it's pretty much the same concept, it'd be easier for em to answer if I actually have seen the show before. But the problem for me is even if in my dream I saw the moon or pluto or was out of this galaxy it wouldn't matter because I don't notice I'm dreaming during the dream, that's what I'm trying to do. I notice I dream when I wake up lol, except once which I said two posts before this one. So, I'm going to consciously dream check until it becomes a habit and hopefully one day I'll dream check during, well, a dream and I'll notice I'm sleeping, so then I have achieved lucid dreaming, then after that all I got to do is just control it, which SEEMS easy, hopefully it is. I don't want to learn how to lucid dream, AND THEN have to learn how to control it, it'd be like learning two things just for one skill, but if I have to I will, it'd be worth it, and thanks for the help so far BlackJack and Lleu, I just got the advice today so obviously I didn't get to dream check consciously yet, but I'm still going to attempt to lucid soon. (I'm going to sleep now) I'll let you know if I lucid dream tonight but I doubt I will just yet.

Well, I prefer to check for things in my dream that wouldn't happen in waking life, because normal everyday things don't usually appear in my dreams.
"even if in my dream I saw the moon or pluto or was out of this galaxy it wouldn't matter because I don't notice I'm dreaming during the dream, that's what I'm trying to do."
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here. The point is to notice an inconsistency and then realize from that that you're dreaming. You just have to train your mind to look for those things and then not take them for granted when you do notice them. Again, going with the moon example, that would be way more useful if you actually dreamed a lot about the moon in the first place.
Anyway, good luck.

ohh I took it a different way then, but usually in my dreams I do stuff I can normally do, but if I saw the moon in my dream I still wouldn't know I'm dreaming because, well I don't know, it's just that ven when I do unatural stuff I still don't realize I'm dreaming. You said normal everyday things don't usually happen in your dreams, so in your dreams you check for things that don't happen in your waking life, well since things that happen in my waking life also happen when I'm dreaming, shouldn't I look for things that happen during my awake life too then? or try to dream things that don't happen in my waking life and look for them?

Another interesting fact is that you cannot read while dreaming. I've experienced this on many occasions; I try to recall a store name, book title, or display on a clock that I saw in my dream and I can never quite remember it.
I read somewhere that it's because while your sleeping, your brain is working on a frequency that cannot retain complex information. Personally, while in a dream, I think I can read something, but it's more of recognizing what words look like. For example, I once had a dream I found a jacket with a name on the back. After I woke up, I couldn't remember the exact name, I kept thinking it was "Nicole", "Nikola", or something similar.
What I'm getting at is, that you should get in the habit to re-read signs like "McDonalds" or "Highway Exit" and ask yourself if you are asleep. This works the same as the dream checks I mentioned above.
alright, and you mean ask myself if I'm asleep when I see those signs while I'm awake right, and then eventually I'll ask myself that when I am sleeping, and that's pretty interesting, now I can't wait to lucid to see what it's like not being able to read. You can't read while lucid dreaming too right?... because even though it's lucid it's still a dream so still on the same frequency.

Yeah...I have the same problem. All of my dreams are things I do in normal life. Even "moral" or "ethical" questions/points that come up in my dream, I always seem to make the choices that I would in waking life. Even talking to people, the same uncomfortable/awkward situations, the same distances, and even the same physical properties of earth...i.e. gravity, relative distance. I can't fly....just huge distances....or ANYTHING like that. The sun seems to rise and set and same rate too....But the funny thing about it is that I even talk about dreaming while I'm dreaming, even philosophical conversations, which shouldn't be happening, because apparently those take higher/more complex thought patterns. And although it's a different point all together....philosophically, WHEN ARE you dreaming, and when are you awake...but of course that's a different point altogether..hehehehe....
What do YOU believe and do you REALLY believe it? You better, because then you won't believe in it, then you should find something to believe in, because then you won't believe in anything, which is funny because that's a belief itself. "They're
Actually, I have read in a dream. Or read sheet music at least, which is pretty much the same. And no, I hadn't seen it before, and I still vividly remember it.

I practice Lucid Dreaming... and have been doing so for nearly a year now. I can say inducing the dreams is the hard part, purely because what works for one person may not work for the rest. I'm still experimenting on all sorts of induction techniques, but overall... I've had about 7-8 lucid dreams over the past year or so. Dream control is a different issue... but that's something I never really had problems doing.
There are a variety of ways of becoming Lucid:
1)You realise you are dreaming in the dream. This is by far the most common way to induce Lucid Dreams, though they don't always yield the ridiculously vivid and real ones. Out of, let's say 8 Lucid dreams of mine, 7 have been induced like this. This can be done through simply coming to the right conclusions in the dream, or by performing Reality Checks. If you do the latter, then you must be prepared to do so during waking reality as well, so to get you into the habit of doing so whenever you see something peculiar or odd. Other noteable methods include mnemonic induction, in which one sets an intention to remember that you are dreaming before you fall asleep.
2)You enter the dream consciously. This is pretty cool to do, but quite hard to get right. I've managed to do it once, and that lucid dream was by far the most vivid and real one. There are many different techniques you can learn to achieve this.
A lot of these techniques can be found on www.dreamviews.com or on the book Exploring The World Of Lucid Dreaming by Dr. Stephen LaBerge. But an example of some of things I've done in Lucid Dreams are:
1) Flying - a very convenient method of getting by, especially if your limbs fail to work properly in the dream
2) Using Doors as Portals - A convenient method of changing scenery
3) Destroying vast swathes of land by mere thought and gesturing of hands.
etc...
In the end, it's all about investing time and effort into finding what works for you, but there's a lot of material for one to use or work from on the net on this.

not really, but this mornin, right before I woke up to a phone call on my cell, I dreamed the someone was calling my phone, and it was my cell phone in the dream too, weird coincidence lol, but the caller i.d. on the phone said someone's name from a different psionic website, peebrain or sean I think it said sean, I don't know why it said he was calling, never even talked to the person before.

I have Lucid Dreams quite often. In my lucid dreams I'm basically a God. I had dreams of me using almost every special ability I ever heard of. Examples include: Telekinesis, Flight, Psi-ball, Invisibility, Time Control, Ect. but I just thought I'd share this with you.
Uh, did you even LOOK at the definition of lucid dreams? Yeah. You manipulate them. Stuff like that is not special, and I'm unsure why people think it is. It is just a lucid dream.
The distance between insanity and genius, is success.
I didn't say it was special. I know you can manipulate them. I just prefer to manipulate my higher self in my dreams.

I think I found a pretty good site for people who want to learn how to LD:
www.lucidipedia.com
Dunno. The site seems fairly poorly designed, I can't scroll sideways and it cuts off slightly at 800x400 or whatever my browser is reduced to so I can see IRC.
That being said, LD is pretty hard to mess up, so I'm sure its at least somewhat credible.

yea, I haven't been on much, but I haven't gotten any closer to LD I don't think, I need a better atention span but I tried to do reality checks, it lasted for like a week and then I gradually forgot to do it. I think I'm going to start trying to LD again. If I get any closer I'll let you guys know by posting in here.
