Hey folks!
I figured I'd do the obligatory "Hello from the new guy" thread. So, hello :)
I'm from east Tennessee (hopefully moving back to New Orleans by the end of the year), I've had a few experiences with psionic abilities (mostly what some circles refer to as Clairvoyance. I tend to know things that there is absolutely no way I should have any knowledge of....Now, if I can just figure out how to control it...)
So, this leads into a question. Some of your less-than scientifically reliable sites talk about some areas being like psychic batteries, feeding energy to those in the area. I was wondering about the validity of such claims.
Now, it may have a bit to do with my feelings toward both places. But I have found it much easier to access these abilities in New Orleans than I do here in Tennessee. In fact, when I lived there the first time, exercising such things required about as much effort as typing this post. But here, it requires a lot of concentration, the information may or may not be entirely accurate, and I feel absolutely drained afterward.
What are your thoughts?

My guess is that its a subconscious thing... but that's what I say to everything ;) . However, it is possible that some areas have the ability to empower psychic attempts, but these would most likely be sacred sites or places of former worship where the morphic resonance of countless generations still holds strong. If you want to find out what morphic resonance is, type it in Google with the words "Rupert Sheldrake." Other science that I'm aware of on consciousness fields of sacred sites are studies conducted by Princeton research Roger Nelson with his random event generators (REGs). In any case, research has shown that certain sites do have an "energy" of their own, but this is most likely not the case for you. You are probably simply more confident for some reason in your new state. Alternatively, you may have had one really good "clairvoyance day" in New Orleans, and that led you to believe that the new location enhanced your psychic abilities. This newly gained confidence allowed you to continue to perform excellently. In science this is called the "placebo effect", the power of positive belief. You can check out my threads "a theory of psi" and "Programming the subconscious" in the psychokinesis section for a more in-depth explanation of what I believe drives psi phenomena.
Also, I will not be able to reply until August. Oh, and welcome to the forums!

From my experience, Ley lines tend to intersect at places of worship. I used to think that the lines subconsciously influenced the location choice but after getting a better feel for what spiritual energy really is and how we connect with it, I firmly believe that the worship places become focal points of energy as a result of a frequency pattern of increased and decreased spiritual energy based on service times. New Orleans is well known for it's spirituality and a long history of strong spiritual belief. The older the part of the city, the thinner the barrier between the physical plane and the next, which allows for easier access by us and by spirits. New Orleans is home to several of the best know haunted places and I believe it is a result of the long history of strong spiritual beliefs of the residents over the years.
I will recommend caution if you desire to test your abilities at a place of worship. The caretakers generally don't understand nor care to. It could also be risky to attempt anything quietly during services as you could get flooded out by a sudden burst of spiritual energy from the patrons. I had an extremely powerful and potentially dangerous experience at one of the largest churches in Bossier City. I was there in support of my wife and I was distracted but in an Alpha brainwave pattern. I could literally, physically see a sudden flood of glowing energy in the room, with tendrils reaching down to each of the people in prayer. It was overwhelming and even tripling my shield immediately I quickly got a migraine.
Edit: It seems the original poster was a guest almost a full 2 years ago. I somehow doubt this information will get back to him or her. Oh well, it is still good information to share.
