I\'m a hybrid vamp (both psi and sanguinarian). Basically, all we do is take energy from others (either directly, or through blood) because we simply cannot produce our own. Those who feed directly off psi can sometimes not know it, but sanguinarians and hybrids are a tad more obvious due to a thirst for blood. The term vampire is only used because it is the closest thing to describe what we are. You cannot become a vampire, you must be born one.
Well, everyone that has responded is right, without going into possibly boring detail I suppose something I can elaborate on...pretty much a psivamp sucks in energy from around them, usually through a high emitting source like people or an item sometimes, it\'s more \'emotional\' energy in a way than some straight and \'slower\' energy, like a earth-like or very grounded energy. Also, it seems to me, not having maybe direct experience, but psivamps with also sanguin vamps do make their own energy to run on, just not as much as would be maybe considered \'healthy\' and then the \'vamping\' helps fill the gap, think like a depressed person as being weak and on effective antidepressents as being strong I suppose could work as a good comparison. A last thing too is, most RPG games and things really are just more simplified other things most of the time, normally their occult-based because of more wide-ranged fantasy base and more hard untrademarked material to go on.
My symptoms of vampirism started off more psi than sanguinarian, and at that time, I did not even KNOW what energy was, nor that it existed. Therefore, how could I suddenlty \"decide\" not to produce something I didn\'t know about? Awakening for a psi vampire is when they begin to CONCIOUSLY drain energy, not the start of energy draining.
As for your friend who \"decided\" not to be a vampire anymore, chances are, he wasn\'t even a vampire in the first place, and was simply a normal person who learned to drain energy, and became an addict.
Like the people who answered and described a psivamp, yes a psivamp is a person who feeds off from other sources of energy, especially the ones with high energy (humans). In my opinion, a person can be a psivamp consciously or unconsciously. Some people may find being a psivamp fun, but I think stealing people\'s energy is not a good idea. If you suck a frustrated person\'s psi, you may get frustrated as well. Or you may have an energy overload which can cause heavy migraines .
I would like to know what happens to a Vampire when he / she remains without something to feed upon (whether is blood or Energy).

In the people that arent roleplaying/are legit(few in number):
1. Seems to mirror the fight-or-flight response. Since its constant, anyone that knows about the fight or flight response knows that being in that a long period of time causes a tank in your immune system, see #2.
2. It falls into a cycle that resembles the following(the person doesnt get a break):
Normal -> vamp problems -> vamp problems exacerbate -> vamp problems totally gone -> sick as a dog -> repeat.
3. Vamp problems can be defined as:
-Fixation on blood and/or energy to the point where you could say barney the purple dinosaur and they could relate it back to energy/blood.
-Mimicking fight or flight reponse and/or anxiety or hunger symptoms.
- Shaking, tensing of muscles, unavoidable teeth clenching, hot flashes, teeth chattering, feeling ill.
- Having the feeling of having a \"second stomach\", feeling like you have a ball or similar object obstructing your throat.
-Avoidant behaviors(typical of anxiety disorders)
-Significant impairment of daily living/having to work life \"around\" it.
-Unintentional taking of energy, even if the person is a sanguinarian.
-can occur even if one has never tasted blood or doesnt know about psionics.
- Sunlight aversion isnt necessary.
Please see a doctor/psychiatrist in either case if you have these symtoms.
Thank you for your insightful info Metalforever. It helped a lot.
I must also point that since you mentioned rpg-ing, Vampires arent affected by the traditional ways to counter them, like garlic or a cross for instance. And the people who claim to be Vampires and they get affected by the previous means of defense, they should see a psychiatrist or psychologist to my opinion.

Re: psi vampires
Vampires are real. Not the way movies depict them but the way you people did (and I am glad I have heard real Psi-based opinions).
I would like to know what happens to a Vampire when he / she remains without something to feed upon (whether is blood or Energy).
