Personally, I would start off with meditation and 'focusing' or mental concentration techniques. Being able to clear your mind and focus it is a great place to start and you might just learn somethings for yourself starting from there.

Here is an excersie you can try. it lightly covers alot of the fields you want to start in but it is a focus on energy gathering. you may want to also see about centering and grounding techniques.
Sit in a comfortable position and focus on your breathing after you have it under control and slow/rhythmic close your eyes. When you are rested enough you can start to move your body again, but stay still from beginning till now and after you do this simple move do not do any more physical moment until you are done. Take your hands and place them over and under eachother as if holding a ball with top hand finger facing away from arm they come from and bottom away from arm they come from (ie left on top with fingers pointing to right and right on bottom with fingers pointing to left). Than slide and turn hands to rest on either side of imagined ball cupping it naturally and in a relaxed manor.
Now as things calm down again, focus on the very center of your ball and move your focus away never till your are done. With your focus there (called focal point from here on out) you will feel around you for a heat source. In your minds eye visualize this heat source and see it as a river of water that is red and warm. Moving above it so that it is direct beneath you, begin to focus on bringing this warm water into your focal point as if it were brought up through a straw you held coming from the river direct to the focal point. As you feel it fill the space in your hands you will feel it increase in density. Compact it when you feel it getting filled, and at that point the heat coming from it will be magnified. Continue to bring in this river of heat and water until you can no longer fill it. Stop at that point and as things settle feel the heat coming from it. Compact your sphere again and imagine a shell to surround it. You should feel the ball become more heated an feel as if it is on fire, but it will be behind a shell.
At this point just feel for the heat and sense its movement. When you have calmed from you activity, feel again for a source but this time intense cold. As you feel for it sense it, you will see it as a river of ice (not water but ice). Move yourself to be underneath it. Continuing to focus on you focal point. When you feel you have centered yourself under it properly, begin to feel for its flow and follow its patterns. Now begin again to place your "straw" and bring this very cold energy down to your focal point. As it fills and becomes full you will feel it swirl with both extreme heat and good cold. When you feel your space there become full condense or compress your ball so there is more space. Continue filling and condencing till it is filled equally of energy from the river of heat and the river of ice. Stop at that point and feel the flow and swirl of the energy in your hands.
