First the term energy manipulation as opposed to energy control.
Thinking in terms of manipulation creates a thoughtform of not only manipulating
but of being manipulated.
Second is the term subtle energy, the first law of thermodynamics is energy is neither created
or destroyed ONLY transformed. So whatever energy psi is has to be transformed according to
some description of personal energies and some reality of external energies.
Third dangers of self-hypnosis in the forms of empty-mind meditation, trance, and
any other thinking methods that put the subconscious mind in charge of the conscious mind summarized in two words; energy programming. If energy is not created or destroyed only transformed, every unit of internal and external energy carries some form of information. Memetics are self-organizing information structures. The mind that does not stay more organized by the consciousness than by memetics risks being controlled by memetics more and more systematically reducing the conscious mind of its control of the subconscious.
Please judge the merits of my post on knowledge. For objective knowledge must be greater than subjective opinion in order for any system of perception to be widely accepted on evidence of meta-analysis.
But, there is also the possibility that "psi" is not even a physical energy.
If energy is only transformed means for every interaction that unit of energy has, that unit of energy must have a reason to remain the type of energy it is. Even within the same type of energy, the units of energy might have different reasons for remaining the type of energy it is. Any reason of any kind is an amount of information and where ever information is, self-organizing information structures develop known as memetics.
Psions have a certain relationship with psi energy and psi has certain relationships with every type of energy. The higher the psi energy, the stronger the reason necessary for that psi energy to remain psi energy and not be converted into any other energy. The higher the energy, the tighter the relationships are between units of energy. Tighter relationships between units of energy make transmission of information between units of energy easier. An example of this is ambient psi energy, skilled psions with years of practice still have resistance harnessing these clusters of natural psi energy. For these clusters of natural psi energy have strong reasons for gathering.
The degree of difference between units of energy is the test of perception to perceive the differences no matter how high or low. For the slightest reason, a unit of psi energy might be converted into physical or physical energy into psi energy.
You have a very left brained way of looking at things, and I can respect that, however I find it makes the topic a bit more convoluted than what is necessary.
From what I gather, you are attempting to justify the interactions between consciousness and the fabric of known space, via some energy model that was crudely pieced from various web/non-web superstition. The energy model known as "Psi".
The Greek letter psi is commonly used in physics for representing a wavefunction in quantum mechanics. This is suiting, for the subject matter discussed in psionic communities relates back to this. When we in the OEC communities practice such things, we must enter a state where the wave function of matter doesn't collapse as readily, thus allowing information to move along the wave. This explanation is also crude and loosely put, however it seems consistent in my experience and the relayed experience of others. It's difficult to come up with a model without pissing off some scientist somewhere, so I ask that this be regarded as opinion based on observation.
Frankly, I see little point in it other than a curiosity. It's impossible to confirm anything, for perception itself relies on our own objectivity, which for all we know could be false. As malleable as the universe is with these practices, it's seems less objective and more about the experience and "expansion of self" by the day.
Anyway, thats my two cents on that. :)
I have found it necessary through complexity to create clarity.
All perceived energy models must be observed for data, patterns identified, and derived concepts based on words, where however true each word is; the relationship between the words makes the concept more true than the words it is made of. Believing in an honest concept is careful derivation from data. Refinement of concepts represents degree of honesty and honesty is seeking the truth. In doing so as honestly as one can be true.
Curiousity is all that is required to begin exploring a subject.
Psionics is possible having to do with some description of personal energies that are perceived by the psion to control, external energies of objective reality, and the relationship between them that both rely on. The probability of success in psionics is variable but industriously appreciating all forms of energy and affirming those that benefit the psion in psionics is confirmed in practice with increases in psionic ability.
Experience is a matter of response to the events of reality as they happen and becoming more prepared to respond as necessary for an endless variety of events. When anyone can respond to events as necessary more and more often, more and more responses are required of them. Regardless of the actual passage of time as perceived with respect for all people, the rate one can grow to respond is as endless as the events that occure in reality.

Well, I am sure some of you have seen Forbidden Planet and are wondering if the subconcious can be made strong enough to produce significantly hazardous psi effects. I can speak from experience and say YES, you can produce unwanted effects, but due to the safeguards built into traditional meditation practices, these effects will only be at an annoyance level until you get yourself balanced and get your flow under tight control. I had been out of practice until I managed to get a bit too close to someone who my current teacher was watching. I was inadvertently draining her student and she straightened me out. I found an awesome teacher in the process.
All monsters are known as the Children of Cain for all true monsters are first murders then whatever they become. Monsters from the mind like the one from the Forbidden Planet are started by an intent leading to murder.
I have no problem with meditation practices that focus thought to calm, organize thought to engage more completely, and use the conscious mind more fully. The problem with subconscious controlling the conscious is that the subconscious reacts to every pattern of reasoning inside or out. The consciousnesss only responds as found necessary after seeking out an answer. The conscious mind may rely on subconscious but the control of the subconscious by the conscious keeps it secure.
Secure not safe. Safety is an ideal. Security is intrinsic to any path kept with integrity. So any safeguards would be limiting to the mind in its endeavors for those endeavors would be incorporated into a pursuit of safety. Where as specific security protocols based on systems of virtue can be incorporated into all mental pursuits and benefit the mind in those pursuits by keeping the mind within the integrity of the path of each pursuit. In keeping with the integrity of the path of a pursuit, it becomes more certain that the end result of each pursuit will be attained.
An example of security over safety are dogs. The first dogs to the best of my knowledge were descendants of wolves. Wolves are wild animals as dangerous as any other. Human beings tamed wolves into dogs by studying them and learning about them to master the patterns of their actions. Dogs are now used in law enforcement, in the military, in raising cattle, and in our homes as pets because they contribute security to our pursuits.
