Basically, I dabbled a little bit once, but now I'm back with more determination.
Call me Zach. I'm a 22-going-on-23 year old guy located in the USA. I stumbled across psionics once when I was young, but I was far too much of a fundamentalist Christian to even consider it, considering it close to witchcraft.
Things have changed since then and not only have I left fundamentalism, I've also left Christianity. I'm an atheist druid of sorts, though I still believe that it's possible for spirits to exist.
Now then, I followed the Overview of Psionics and found myself being quite natural at creating psiballs (though I visualize the energy less as a ball in my abdomen and more as energy crackling across my skin). Also, for the first time, I had been able to create a warm cube, and a crystalline pyramid, though I had to reform the bottom of it which had become hollowed out, which wasn't in my mental projection. Hey, I'm still learning.
Visualization is actually harder for me than just feeling the sensation, but that's just something I'm going to have to work on.
I also managed to make a shield, but that was when my energy ran out and I had to stop.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that I have been using psionics for a long time now. For one thing, I tend to make some odd gut-decisions that lead to good consequences, though I can never do this intentionally, and trying to do so usually results in bad consequences. A more practical example is that whenever I have a headache, I visualize a syringe sticking into my head and pulling bad blood out, or good blood in, and that usually alleviates some of the pain in that spot.
I've also been "pulsing" energy for awhile, that is, making it surge across my skin. The tingling sensation is very real. I chalked it up to my imagination but I may be wrong about it.
I'm going to try to take things slowly and more deliberately this time. Last time I tried psionics, I tried to do MacroPK on my first day. Obviously, that didn't work well. I do seem to have a knack for energy manipulation. Programming constructs, however, and manifesting temperature or sensations is currently beyond me.
Be warned I'm a bit of a lurker, though I will eventually become more involved in the community :D I hope to have a good time here. Thanks for any help you've given me and will give me.

I'm going to pick your post apart a bit, as I would like to see you make as few mistakes as possible in beginning your psionic path.
1)First off, do not get too used to associating a physical feeling with psi. Its an alright first indicator, but you really should figure other ways of verifying your energy constructs. (see http://www.psipog.net, Seans article on "How to Measure and Verify Your Skills")
2)Do not believe that you ran out of energy. Honestly, in my entire time practicing psionics, I cannot recall even one time that I "ran out" of energy. Thats like "running out" of energy for your body, and it cant move anymore :P Sure, you can get "tired" and need a moment to rest..But "running out" is a bit much. Do no ever expect to run out, or get tired psionically. That will cause it to happen wether it was going to or not, and can create blocks down the road.
3)Do not believe that the temperature things are beyond you. Affecting a thermometer is actually pretty darn easy. Dont expect it to be "beyond you", or else, again, this will create a mental block. These people that are achieving these cool effects are human, and average people, just like you. And they managed it. Think of yourself as no different.
Good luck.

1. Alright. I thought the whole point of the first exercise was to develop a sensation to go along with your visualization. I suppose that works, too, but sensation and visualization can be both aids, right?
2. I didn't mean LITERALLY ran out of energy, it's just that I got tired and as a result, less accurate.
3. When I say "beyond me", I mean in the same way that building a rocket engine is "beyond me". I CAN do it, but with the proper training and education and practice. Right now, I lack most of that, but that can be fixed, so don't take it as me just giving up.
I would like to mention that I did a little bit more training just now, since I had rested up, so I decided to make a crystal-shaped construct. I could've sworn that there was an aura around my fingertips and that there was a slight crystal-shaped distortion between my fingers O_o Maybe I have a better talent for this than I thought?
EDIT: To clarify, I don't mean that I made it flare, rather that I managed to perceive it visually.

When I said its not "beyond you" I mean you can do it right now, and you dont lack anything that it takes to do it right now.
The kind of thinking that "sure, I can do it, but its gonna take more practice.." often leads to that specific thing never being achieved in my experience.
Trust me on that one, if your constantly thinking "it will just take more practice" you will never get it. I know this from experience. I spent over a year practicing telepathy, never getting results the entire time. Every practice session I had the idea in my head "I cant do it yet, but if I just keep doing this I'll get it" But then "I'll get it" part never comes. And the reason for that is that your still thinking "I cant do it yet" so as a result your subconcious doesnt _let_ you do that yet. Like I said, I spent over a year practicing telepathy with zero results (I'm sure some people around here remember that, and how annoying it was :P). Eventually, once I changed my mentality I started getting results.
You do not want things to be that difficult. You have the tools, and you have what it takes to achieve psionic effects _right now_. Theres nothing you dont have that I do have.
For example, the thermometer exercise. I made a warm psiball on a thermometer (from across the room of course) and the temperature rose. That was when I very first started practicing. It was easy for me to do because I wasnt expecting there to be any difficulty.
Another example; when I very first started practicing psychokinesis I was able to easily slide around bits of foil. A lot of psions would look at that and think its amazing, must have been practicing for years. On the contrary, it was one of my very first PK attemts.
The PK example was a bit more of an extreme case. But the thermometer one I'm fairly certain is well within your grasp, and some may disagree, but I think its a pretty "beginner"ish thing.
Go ahead and give it a try if youd like, if you can even get it to raise a couple notches I'd say thats decent for your first go.

Alright, I understand you then.
After I made my last post, though, I ended up emitting a lot of heat when I was making that psi crystal I mentioned earlier, which even my mother could feel. Then again, I did make the psi crystal as super dense as I currently can.
Thumbs up to you, way to go ;)
