The following is a section on one of my writings: the astral bestiary. This is a writing concerning my encounters with various entities that reside on the astral, and how to go about interacting with them peacefully. The following writing is on Daemons, very misunderstood and mishandled creatures.

Generally a spirit on the astral is a residual manifestation of a force generated from something on the physical plane. Such manifestation could be a dryad, that embodies the central spiritual force of a forested area. The dryad would then feed off the residual energy from the forest to maintain it's manifestation lest it's energy return to the elements. Now daemons in particular, are creatures that manifest out of human (and sometimes animal) emotions. Therefor humans are the primary food source for said entities. Do note however, that the word daemon is very old rooted and it's original meaning meant "teacher", and in fact any astral entity that teaches can be considered a daemon. The "teacher" concept will become clearer later in the writing. There are many misconceptions labeling daemons as evil, however we are simply food to them. In a similar situation, we are not evil for consuming the flesh of another creature for sustenance. It is a natural function of life, and should be regarded with understanding and respect.

Now there are many kinds of daemons, and they will often take the form of the emotion they feed off the most. emotions such as despair, fear, or anger, to even joy, desire, or passion. These creatures are master shape shifters, and will alter their appearance to induce the correct effect. When you first encounter a daemon, it will probably attempt to create an emotional reaction such as making you afraid, frustrated, or even coveting a sexual encounter. You can either choose to engage the emotion, or stop and attempt to parlay. Note that some will be unwilling to parlay and will just leave, or continue it's attempt to toy with your emotions. This however requires energy to do, so it more likely to parlay in an effort to strike some kind of exchange. Daemons like deals because they require very little effort on their part.

If you should attempt to make a deal, take into mind it's only interest is to acquire food to maintain it's manifest. Hence it will probably ask you for energy, so you should know how to provide it. Otherwise just give it your attention for a while, and it will feed off your attention. It is very rare for it's motivations to be contrary unless it is bound by another deal to deviate it's conventional behavior. Often times daemons will trade for knowledge, as they know a great deal of things as many spirits do. You are more likely to get useful information from a daemon though because you actually have something it wants. Whereas other spirits already have food sources to feed upon. Daemons are more trustworthy simply because you are food, and if the deal is to your liking, then you will be likely to return for the positive transaction. Be wary though, should you loose your resolve or wit when in parlay, you could get the sucker end of the deal. Take into mind that if you make a deal, there is no spiritual repercussions other than what was traded. If you believe what you did was evil to make a deal, then it will have an impact on you. If you do not believe it was evil, there will be no consequence. Karma is created by those who propagate it, whether it be you, or someone you have told.
