OH....MY....GOD!!! When they tell you that an OBE is incredible, they MEAN IT! At the time of this writing, I've just awoken literally minutes from my long-sought experience. I'll try to prevent myself from saying too much at once since I'm still too excited. Understand that - as some of you already know - I've been trying to achieve a full OBE for almost 3yrs now and with only 3 minor "successes". So, to FINALLY succeed to getting out of my body is something celebratory.
Today I have college. I usually wake up around 5:30AM to get ready but today, I don't have class till 1PM, so that means more sleep time for me. I got up, got a drink, used the bathroom and went back to sleep. Seizing the chance, I decided to use a technique that my friend at college used to get out of his body. I skipped ahead and went straight to the relaxation procedure.
Piece by piece, I relaxed parts of my body. A couple of minutes later, the left-side of my body went limp and cold. Almost as if there was no blood flow. It felt heavy as well...as if it were made out of stone. I took this as a good sign. I immediately focused on the right side of my body. I wanted to achieve the same effect.
Somehow, as I was doing this, I fell asleep. I dreamed of minor things that I was thinking about the day before. After the dream was over and I woke up, I DID NOT MOVE. I was awake, but I didn't open my eyes or move any part of my body.
After waking up, I realized that my body felt extremely heavy and dense. This was the perfect moment for me to try to separate. Slowly but surely, I focused my thought on getting out. I lifted my face and I felt my astral face push through my physical face. As my ears crept closer to the edge of my body, I felt the legendary vibrations that 99% of all OBE experiences on the internet speak of. The closer I crept to the edge of my body, the louder the vibrations and the faster the frequency. I knew all to well what was happening. I was FINALLY having my FIRST Out of Body Experience!
After my ears reached outside of my body, I couldn't hear the vibrations any more. I still felt them in parts of my astral body that were still in my physical. I finally tried to stand up...a lot like getting up after sitting on the ground. For whatever reason, my knees were shaking (no reference to Shpongle intended) and I couldn't stand up. And I fell back down into my body. As I fell back down, I felt and heard the vibrations again. Although I could barely see around me (haven't learned to use my astral eyes), I knew I was going back in.
"NO!!! I've worked far too long and hard to accomplish this and there's no way I'm going back in this soon! " And with that, I rolled over to the left side of my bed. The vibrations disappeared as my ears left my body. I fell to the ground.....I was out. After nearly 3 years of disappointment, de-motivations, and discouragement....I finally did it. However, there was one problem: I still couldn't see. I could barely make out where I was on the floor in my room but I couldn't see. I glided over the floor to the end of my bed to get myself to see.
Finally, I was able to make out the end-table that sat next to my bed. The lamp on it was still on (which is what I expected). I flew into the living room. However, as soon as I flew, I had another problem to face: Control. For whatever reason, I couldn't control my direction of flight, the speed, and orientation. It was as if I was drunk/dizzy and I had to keep moving. I flew in to the living room to hear my dad and my little brother arguing down the hall. Did my dad get home from work already?
Thoughts were flying very quickly. It was almost impossible for me to stop the torrents of the thoughts and pick out one to settle on. A sudden thought of my childhood apartment came. I ended up there for a brief moment. Then, I ended back at my current apartment. This time, it was around 12-1PM and no one was home. All this time I've been flying around uncontrollably. The light in the living room was on. I finally grabbed the carpet on the floor to control myself.
Crouching on the floor, I remembered that in this reality, I could see angels, demons, and other things. Being alone in the apartment and "vulnerable", I knew I had to be prepared if an entity decided to play around with me. Whenever I used to get nightmares, I'd let out a raging roar and run towards whatever was scaring me. It worked 100% of the time. I took a febreze bottle that was laying on the floor and threw it at the couch as a threatening gesture. Utilizing this same strategy, I roared with rage. But, this isn't the dream world....this is the astral me out of my body in some other alternate reality where the time should've been 6-7AM but was 12-1PM with no one home.
My roar was deep and LOUD! It echoed in the walls and it was terrifying. It didn't go away, it lingered. Almost as if the walls themselves were replying in the same manner. My vision began to distort with the magnitude of my roar. Startled and frightened by what I had just done, I rolled over and put my face in the ground and said to myself, "Get back to your body!"
And with that, I felt myself fall into my body. Vibrations were coming back but they soon disappeared as I stayed in my body. I woke up to find everything was normal...and I checked to make sure I was in my body...fully.
The OBE occurred around 6-7AM. Every family member except my father was home. My mother and sister were in the living room at the time.
When I roared, I was frightened but not in the sense that it was pure horror...but rather the magnitude and power of my rage and roar took me completely off guard.
Although I was able to see, it wasn't 100% good vision. The only way I can describe how I saw was that everything was "liney". To put it into perspective: If you open your eyes in the dark and see those lines and dark spots (film grain?)....that's how my vision was like...only, it only showed in places where there was shade and shadow.
Obviously, I have questions about what happened.
1) Where was I when I went to the living room? Could I have stumbled into 2 alternate realities? One where my father came home from work (which didn't happen) and argued with my little brother in the other room.....the other where it was 12-1PM and no one was home.
I had read some of Robert Monroe's book (Journeys Out of the Body) where he mentions the 3 types of OBE's. Could I have had an OBE type II or III?
2) Why couldn't I control my flight? I understand that it was my first time but it's not like I haven't flown before (in lucid dreams). What can I do to fly better next time?
3) What can I do to improve my sight or is it just how the first time goes?
I cannot tell you how excited I was after this OBE. None of it scared me even though the last part was terrifying...it was more awesome that terrifying. The sheer power of anger was made apparent to me and I was in complete awe of it. OBE's are something that - now that I've experienced one - cannot understand why many don't try to experience one.
How could something so profound and so amazing be looked over by science and the world at large?! The vibrations are something that made this experience unforgettable. While some people say that OBE's are merely dreams of a different type, I say that OBE's are just what the name implies. It's unmistakable.
I thank you VERY MUCH for supporting me over the times that I've come here and posted for advice. I'm eternally grateful to have discovered psionics, telekinesis, and the likes at the ripe age of 12-13.
My advice to those of you still trying to have an OBE: PERSISTENCE!
Good luck on all your endeavors and I'm sorry this thread is so long....
