There will *definitely* be some downtime during the security, layout and forum upgrades.  We are looking at a possible 2-3 day scheduled downtime.

Downtime occurred earlier this evening due to a DDOS attack on PsionicsOnline's server. DDOS stands for Direct Denial of Service. A DDOS attack is a possible occurance though, but not limited to: Many people or a few people getting together with bots who refresh a page very many times a second in an attempt to bring a server to its knees, and cause massive bandwidth overage charges. DDOS attacks have happened before in Psionic communities, but im not relating this to the attack.

A partial copy of an email received:

"..As promised here is an update on the situation with bugatti. It appears
the reason your server has been going offline is because it is being DDOS
attacked, we're bringing in the big guns (network admins) and blocking
the attackers (every one of them) at our core router..."

A later announcement via Dreamhost:

"..Due to a typing error on our primary router while trying to block a denial of service attack, DreamHost is currently offline. This includes all email, web hosting, etc. A technician is about 15 minutes out from our datacenter to undo this mistake.

I apologize for this mistake. I was intending to be editing our non-live access-list, and edited the live one by mistake..."

it on time.  Since this problem was fixed, we will now be continuing
with classes, and a super secret "PsionicsOnline 4.0" may be in the
works.  Stay tuned.

Alright, it has been brought to my attention that people are not receiving their activation emails who have signed up using the main portion of the site opposed to the forums signup (which i believe doesnt require activation). Forum registration covers the main portion of the site as well.

Upon researching this problem, it seems my mail server has been down a week or more, and i am not sure how soon it is going to come back up. I apologize for the inconvenience, but all SUGGESTIONS, Q&A SUBMISSIONS, MEDIA SUBMISSIONS, CLASS EMAILS, ARTICLE SUBMISSIONS, ACTIVATION EMAILS and PSIONICSONLINE EMAIL ADDRESSES are most likely NOT WORKING at this present time. Please be patient with the downtime, and an update will be posted when all is well again.
